Since the nineteenth century, ocean liners have allowed people to cross the world's oceans in style and comfort. The very names of the great liners–Mauretania, Queen Mary, Normandie–evoke images of a bygone age of elegance and sophistication. Most of the great liners have long since sailed into history. Yet in their wake they've left behind haunting echoes of their former glory. All sorts of objects, including dishes, spoons, knives, ashtrays, lighters, postcards and even portions of the vessels themselves remain to give us tangible evidence of their everlasting greatness. My collection of liner artifacts, located in Gilbert, Arizona, includes treasures I've accumulated over the past 40 years. Since the collection's start, only my family and close friends have been able to view the items in my possession. Now, thanks to the Web, I can share a significant portion of my collection with the world. This site is designed to explain ocean liners in the context of the objects in my collection. I’ve also included a variety of videos, presentations and other types of content. I hope you will enjoy your visit. John Edwards johne@oceanliners.org
